Mrs. Kenyetta Geathers has been a dedicated member of the Trey Whitfield School community since 2017, serving as the Lead 3K teacher. Can you share a memorable moment or experience you've had with students?
When a student of mine lost one of their dads we bonded because I told her that I had lost one of my dads too and that it gets a little better and if you ever want to write a letter to him I will help her because I write letters to my dad.
Camille Garcia, affectionately known as Mr. G, has been spreading joy as a teacher’s assistant since 2023. Always sporting a smile, Mr. G brings positive energy to the classroom, even on challenging days. Known for his kindness and camaraderie, he values building connections with both students and staff. Beyond his role, Mr. G's quest for snacks is legendary, bringing delight to those who share his tasty discoveries. His favorite aspect of the job is the interactions with students, witnessing their learning journeys and growth firsthand. Seeing the children grasp new concepts and apply them in the classroom fills him with pride, as he considers them akin to his own children. Mr. G particularly enjoys the festive atmosphere of the Christmas celebration.
If you could invite any historical figure or fictional character to speak to your class, who would it be and why?
With his own admiration for the iconic superhero and knowing the children share his joy, Mr. G believes Spider-Man would not only captivate their imaginations but also teach them life lessons that they can carry with them beyond the classroom.
Lawrence Banks has been a dedicated member of Trey Whitfield School since 2017, teaching 3K Early Education. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Music/Jazz Theory and Composition from CUNY and currently pursuing his Master's Degree and certification in Early Education, Mr. Banks brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. Over the span of 30 years, across all 5 boroughs of NYC, he has passionately dedicated himself to educating children in music and culture. Beyond his educational career, Mr. Banks is a talented percussionist and drummer, performing with multiple professional artists in New York City and throughout the country. His favorite part of the job is teaching Music and Movement, as it allows him to share his passion and expertise with his students. Mr. Banks enjoys the school's Superhero Day event, where creativity and imagination are celebrated throughout the school.

Recognizing her deep affection for children and her ability to comfort and educate others with maternal wisdom, Mr. Banks believes Maya Angelou's presence would inspire and uplift his students. Ardril Jackson has been an assistant teacher in the Early Childhood Department at Trey Whitfield School since 2021. With 21 years of experience working with children, Ms. Jackson brings a wealth of expertise and certifications in childcare and special needs education to her role. As a proud single mother, she finds joy in seeing the smiles on children's faces, knowing she's created a safe and welcoming environment for them to learn and grow. I'd love to one day visit Egypt and explore its rich history and culture firsthand.
Ms. Brooks has been a dedicated member of Trey Whitfield School since 2022, serving as an Assistant Teacher in the UPK program. She is a goal-oriented individual committed to developing her teaching skills and fostering a challenging yet enjoyable learning environment for her students. Ms. Brooks's primary objective as an educator is to motivate her students to achieve their best and surpass their personal limits. She finds immense joy in the daily interactions with the children she teaches, cherishing the opportunity to witness their growth and development. I would love to visit Nigeria because I am deeply fascinated by its rich culture and flavorful cuisine.
Sherise Morris has been a valued member of the Trey Whitfield School faculty since 2019. Inspired by her own enriching experiences with English instruction from elementary school through university, Ms. Morris is passionate about delivering high-quality education to her students. As a Pre-K Lead Teacher, she takes pride in equipping her young learners with the language skills they need to navigate their 4-year-old lives with confidence. Her favorite part of the job is empowering her students to advocate for themselves, whether it's learning to share or assert their needs. Ms. Morris particularly enjoys the school's Annual Pre-K Luau, where students and teachers come together to celebrate and reminisce on their best moments of the year.
Can you share a memorable moment or experience you've had with students?
I read a story about all the things that girls are able to do and then, asked the girls in the group about some of the things they like to do as girls. As we went around in the circle, one student said, 'I like to move it, move it!' We all erupted in laughter and then had a dance party.
Brenda Parsley has been a dedicated member of the Trey Whitfield School community since 2022, serving as a Pre-K teacher. Her favorite part of the job is warmly greeting parents and working closely with the children, fostering their growth and development. While she doesn't have a specific favorite school event or tradition, she finds fulfillment in her daily interactions with her students and their families. After a busy day at school, Ms. Parsley finds solace in prayer, using it as a method to destress and reflect.
Lower School
Ms. Zaria Bellamy has been a valued member of Trey Whitfield School since 2020. As an alumna of TWS, graduating in the Class of 2012, she pursued her education at Long Island University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences. In her role as a Kindergarten Teacher, Ms. Zaria is committed to equipping her students with the skills and knowledge necessary for their future endeavors. She takes pride in fostering strong student-teacher relationships and delights in witnessing her students' smiles and successes each day. Ms. Zaria particularly enjoys engaging in school trips and attending Chapel services, as they provide enriching experiences and opportunities for spiritual growth for both herself and her students.
What's a destination that you'd love to visit?
Jamaica is a destination I would love to visit because of its vibrant culture and beautiful beaches.
Felicia Bellamy has been an integral part of Trey Whitfield School since 2008. With a BA in Sociology from Iona College, Ms. Bellamy is passionate about education and enjoys reading and spending time with family. She has a deep love for traveling and learning about other cultures. Currently serving as a first-grade lead teacher for all subject areas, Ms. Bellamy's favorite part of the job is teaching young students and witnessing the joy on their faces when they grasp new concepts. Ms. Bellamy cherishes school events such as Royalty Chapel, Black History Month, and the Step-Up Ceremony at the end of the school year. One memorable experience she had with students was during Read Across America Week, where they focused on Dr. Seuss' literature. Felicia arranged for The Cat in the Hat character to join the students for a party, ending the week on a high note!

If given the opportunity to invite any historical figure to speak to her class, Ms. Bellamy would choose Rosa Parks. Ms. Bellamy believes Rosa Parks' presence would inspire and encourage her students to strive for their best in everything they do. Rosa Parks' courageous act of standing up for herself by refusing to give up her seat on the bus can serve as a powerful lesson for the students. Ms. Bellamy imagines Rosa Parks sharing her experience and explaining the feelings she had during that pivotal moment, showing the students the importance of standing up for what is right, even in the face of fear.
Thashira Greenidge has been a dedicated staff member of Trey Whitfield School since 2007, where she currently serves as a third grade teacher. Passionate about nurturing students' social-emotional growth and cultural values, she creates a positive and welcoming learning environment. Outside of work, Ms. Greenidge enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and expressing her creativity through painting and drawing. She chose Trey Whitfield School for its strong focus on education and its nurturing family atmosphere. Ms. Greenidge's favorite aspect of her job is mentoring and connecting with students beyond their academic needs, fostering well-rounded individuals who feel encouraged and loved. I would love to visit Dubai or South Africa because both destinations offer rich cultural experiences, stunning landscapes, and iconic landmarks.
Upper School
Ms. Tonya Giddens joined Trey Whitfield School in September 2023, marking the beginning of her journey as a Social Studies teacher for grades 5, 6, and 7. As a proud graduate of the school's inaugural class, Ms. Giddens holds a deep connection to its history and values. Alongside her role in education, she serves as the president of the alumni chapter at Norfolk State University, her alma mater, embodying the school motto, "You can never be overdressed or overeducated." Ms. Giddens's passion for teaching social studies stems from her belief in its power to expand students' horizons, exposing them to diverse cultures and perspectives. While she finds it difficult to choose a single favorite school event or tradition, Ms. Giddens's enthusiasm for the community's activities is evident. If given the chance to host a guest speaker, she would invite Malcolm X to impart his wisdom and inspire her students with his journey of overcoming adversity.
What's a destination that you'd love to visit?
I dream of exploring destinations like Aruba or The Netherlands, drawn to their rich cultural heritage and picturesque landscapes.
Adrianna Hackett is an English Language Arts teacher for grades 5-8 at TWS. With a decade of teaching experience, she graduated from Kean University in New Jersey. Her passion for literacy extends beyond the classroom, supporting both adults and children in their literacy pursuits. Ms. Hackett finds joy in exploring tourist attractions in New York and spending time outdoors. Alongside teaching, she enjoys photography, painting, and jewelry making.
What's your favorite school event or tradition?
Chapel every Friday is my favorite school tradition because it's a time when the students truly shine. Throughout the week, they diligently plan and prepare for this hour of spiritual involvement. It's a holistic experience that caters to all of our students' needs and fosters a sense of community and growth.

It's crucial for our students to see individuals of their own color achieving extraordinary things and uplifting others into higher levels of consciousness. Nikki Giovanni's presence and words would undoubtedly inspire and empower our students to embrace their own potential and strive for greatness.
Diane Dixon brings a wealth of experience and achievement to her role as a physical education/health teacher at Trey Whitfield School, where she has been since 2023. As a retired Olympic Gold Medalist in Track and Field, with a remarkable career spanning multiple championships and accolades, she embodies excellence and dedication. Her passion for teaching extends beyond the realm of sports, as she instills a comprehensive team-building curriculum and health program for students, emphasizing their holistic development. Diane cherishes the tradition of chapel every Friday, where students can showcase their talents and express themselves freely.
