Trey Whitfield Day

Remembering a Legacy: Trey Whitfield School Celebrates Trey’s Birthday and Hall of Fame Induction

On April 17th, the playground of the Trey Whitfield School was filled not only with the usual sounds of recess, but also with a profound sense of gratitude and remembrance. Students, faculty, and staff gathered under the spring sun to celebrate what would have been the birthday of our beloved, Trey Whitfield.

To honor his lasting impact on the community and his dedication to education, the school held a ceremonial balloon release. As the colorful tributes drifted toward the sky, the atmosphere was one of reflection—a moment for the younger generation to connect with the man whose vision created the very hallways they walk through today.

A Growing Legacy
The celebration of Trey’s life doesn't end today. We are thrilled to announce a major milestone in honoring his athletic and personal journey: On May 30th, Trey Whitfield will be posthumously inducted into the Brewster Academy Hall of Fame.

Trey’s induction places him among an elite group of athletes. Brewster Academy’s Hall of Fame is storied with talent, featuring several former players who transitioned from the Academy's courts to the NBA. This prestigious honor recognizes not just Trey’s skill on the court, but the character and leadership he carried throughout his life.

From the Classroom to the Hall of Fame
At the Trey Whitfield School, we strive to instill the same perseverance and excellence that Trey lived by. Seeing our students stand together today—from our youngest learners in their uniforms to our older students ready to take on the world—is the greatest tribute possible to his memory.

As we look forward to the ceremony on May 30th, we carry Trey’s spirit with us, reminding our students that with hard work and a kind heart, they too can leave a legacy that reaches the stars.

"The balloon release is a beautiful tradition, but the real tribute is seeing these kids succeed every single day. Trey would be so proud." — A.B. Whitfield

Happy Birthday, Trey. Your vision continues to fly high.
