Rep Your Flag Day

Celebrating Heritage: "Rep Your Flag Day" Brings Vibrant Cultures Together at Trey Whitfield School

The hallways of the Trey Whitfield School transformed into a beautiful tapestry of global heritage as students and staff came together for our highly anticipated "Rep Your Flag Day!" Guided by the school's powerful theme—"One school. Many cultures. One community. All pride."—the event was a joyful, energetic celebration of the diverse backgrounds that make our school family so unique.

The special day encouraged students to look inward at their roots, celebrate their family histories, and proudly share their cultural identity with their peers.

Wearing Culture with Pride
To participate, students were invited to bring in their family’s cultural heritage flags and swap out their everyday school tops for t-shirts representing their nations of origin. To maintain our school standard of excellence and respect, students wore their heritage shirts right over their school uniforms, blending school pride with cultural pride.

The result was an incredible sea of colors, patterns, and symbols filling the classrooms. From across the globe, representation shone brightly, including, but not limited to:

The Caribbean: Students proudly waved the vibrant black, green, and gold of Jamaica, alongside the tricolor flag of Haiti, the broken trident of Barbados, and the beautiful flags of Guyana and Dominica.

The Americas: Strong representation was on display for the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Central American nations like Honduras and Guatemala.

Unity in Diversity
Beyond the colorful shirts and waving flags, the day served as an important educational moment. Students had the opportunity to ask one another about their traditions, learn about different geographies, and discover just how many interconnected heritages thrive under one roof.

At the Trey Whitfield School, we believe that understanding and honoring where we come from strengthens our bond as a community. "Rep Your Flag Day" perfectly modeled our core values: Be Proud. Be Respectful. Be You.

Thank you to all of our families who helped our students prepare for this wonderful day, and to our staff for fostering an environment where every student can shine in their true identity. We are already looking forward to next year's celebration!
